On July 23, 2024, we were pleased to welcome Prof. Lynn Ang from IOE, UCL, to visit Tohoku University and give us a lecture on Early Childhood Care Education (ECCE) in the Global context.
In the lecture, Prof. Ang introduced the importance of ECCE, as a matter of children's rights, in a child's life and its impact on the future well-being of the children. IOE and its programs. Then, she talked about her research projects on ECCE in the UK, Singapore, and Japan to emphasize the importance of ECCE. In the last part of the lecture, Prof. Lynn explained the concept of childminding and the case studies in the UK and Japan. With the rapid globalization and diversification of our societies, we face unprecedented challenges in accommodating the needs of ECCE. It would be great to jointly build a comprehensive ecosystem to take linguistic and cultural responses to a more quality, equitable, and inclusive ECCE for all children.
